Riu Negril is only one of the Riu Hotels & Resorts in 18 countries around the world. They are one of the largest franchise all inclusives in the hospitality industry. All three Jamaican resorts: ClubHotel Riu Negril and Riu Tropical Bay on the far south west side of Jamaica as well as Riu Ochos Rios on the north side are on the shore but the Seven Mile Beach of Negril may be the nicer one. The white coral sand stretches from Negril's Lighthouse (built in 1895) north past Long Bay to Bloody Bay. All Riu Resorts are a reasonable distance from Donald Sanger International Airport which can be accessed by nonstop flights from many points in North America.
Built in 2004 Riu Negril is in the more relaxed part of the Jamaican Resort laden coastline. Many of the beaches in Jamaica are clothing optional but they are part of resorts. Negril has some of this kind of beach but clothing is required on the public beaches.

Riu Negril has children's programs and playground equipment and may be better for those with children than the Riu Tropical Bay next door. A children's swimming pool is also featured along with the two large adult pools (one with Jacuzzi).
Mini bars and dispensers in the rooms are included in the all inclusive packages at Riu Negril. Club soda, bottled water, soft drinks and four different alcoholic beverages are restocked daily or every other day in Riu resorts.
For those whose plans are flexible, the month of October brings some risk of hurricane to Jamaica but also the best pricing of the year. Riu Negril offers a $98 per person per night special through the end of October. So keeping a close eye on the weather, a bargain is available.
The food at the all inclusives has become a main focus as are the buffets on cruises and at Las Vegas casinos. Riu Negril is no exception to the level of excellence that vacationers have come to expect. Breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets are served. Unlimited beverages are served until 2a.m. Specialty restaurants are available with reservations.
